Genesis 1:1 – 2:25
Where do you see God around you?
How do you understand creation from reading this passage and from what you know about how the universe came into existence?
How do you understand God from the creation stories?
What does it mean to you that humankind - including YOU - is created "in the image of God?"

There is so much in the first two chapters of Genesis, it's hard to know where to begin. I love the majesty of the first creation story, and when I see the pictures from the Hubble observatory, I see the hand of God. I love that humans are created "in the image of God." We are meant to be stewards - God's agents - in caring for all creation, including each other.
ReplyDeleteI'm struck most by the second account of creation. God creates a human right at the start. God expresses a desire for that human to have companionship - and that instigates a flurry of creative activity until God's dream of a human community is fulfilled ... or at least begun!
